Head Market Access and Public Affairs

  • Location: Austria – On site 2x per week with regular travel to the below countries.
  • Reporting to: Head of Regional Function
  • Regional Coverage: Austria, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Israel, Kazakhstan.

Purpose of the role:

  • Lead and oversee a centralized point of contact responsible for Human Pharma Patient Engagement, Health Care Affairs, and Market Access functions. This role encompasses Health Economics, Pricing, Outcomes Research, Patient Access, Health Policy, and Healthcare Affairs Solutions.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term strategic plan aimed at enhancing collaboration between Human Pharma and governmental bodies. The objective is to expedite patient access to optimal treatments and foster innovation in patient care.
  • Drive the establishment of a patient-centric culture and streamlined processes, ensuring the integration of patient focus across selected Therapeutic Areas (TAs) in both strategy and execution.
  • Direct the creation and maintenance of a concise set of up-to-date performance metrics for market access aligned with Human Pharma objectives. These metrics will be documented in TA business plans and form the basis for employee priorities.
  • Assist the Human Pharma Management Team in evaluating strategies, operations, and personnel, adapting them to changing organizational capabilities and business landscapes.
  • Challenge the strategic and tactical decisions of the Human Pharma Leadership team from financial and operational perspectives, offering recommendations to optimize desired outcomes.
  • Offer direct insights into global strategic planning, developmental management processes, critical issues, resource management, and project management from inception through the development cycle.
  • Ensure successful G-BA assessments and effective price negotiations across all therapeutic areas to secure market access and appropriate reimbursement for Human Pharma products.
  • Develop and execute pricing and contracting strategies aimed at optimizing the contribution margin for both new product launches and established products.
  • Lead the growth and professional development of a team comprising seasoned market access professionals.

Required Experience:

  • Graduate degree in Business, Economics, Health Economics, Finance, Life Sciences, or related discipline and/ or Advanced Scientific Degree desirable, e.g. Master, PhD, MD
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Market Access and public affairs.
  • Experience leading Market Access, HTA and HEOR projects across CEE markets, ideally in Austria and AT LEAST one other CEE country.
  • Experience in the development and execution of contracting, pricing, and negotiation strategies.
  • Experience in setting up and implementing strategies.
  • Developed network of payers, stakeholders, government officials and KOL’s across Austria and key countries in the CEE such as Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Israel, and Slovakia.
  • Strong people leadership skills with strategic thinking and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent people and communication skills, with the ability to operate in a cross – cultural and complex matrix environment.
  • Professional proficiency in English (Written and Spoken).
