We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Financial Accountant Austria/Germany d/f/m to join our Finance team, taking full ownership of our Austria and Germany operations. This role reports to the EMEA Finance Director and is responsible for overseeing all US GAAP and local Austrian and German GAAP statutory accounting and reporting activities for the entity. The role offers a growth opportunity into a team leadership position covering Austria and Germany.
In addition to financial reporting, this role is instrumental in business partnering and stakeholder management, collaborating closely with R&D, procurement, accounts payable, the USA corporate team, and the broader Molecular Devices European operations.
The role can be either located onsite at our site in Salzburg, Austria, or remote in Austria or the southern Bavaria region of Germany, with monthly travel required to the site in Austria.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Lead the preparation of annual statutory accounts in accordance with Austrian GAAP (UGB), German GAAP and US GAAP, and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
Act as the main point of contact for local external partners, auditors, and regulatory authorities, handling audit requests and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate posting of journal entries and adjustments.
Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial reporting schedules per US GAAP requirements for submission to the corporate team in the USA.
Ensure compliance with Austrian accounting standards (UGB) and IFRS/GAAP, and oversee accurate tax filings, including VAT, corporate income tax, and withholding taxes.
Conduct variance analyses and identify trends to support strategic decision-making, and assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial controls, and ensure adherence to internal policies and controls.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Accounting or Finance Qualification
Austrian/German qualified accountant
Several years’ experience compiling statutory financial accounts including working on audit requests and tax compliance.
Manufacturing experience in a global business environment with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows.
Fluent in German and English

Erstellung und Abarbeitung von Changes, Abweichungen, CAPAs
Technische Prozessoptimierungen
Environmental, health and safety: Elementverantwortung für Environmental Defense
Wer Sie sind
Abgeschlossene Ausbildung im Bereich der Verfahrenstechnik, Maschinenbau, Mess-, Steuerungs- und Regelungstechnik, Chemieingenieurwesen (HTL, Bachelor, Master bzw. ähnliche Qualifikation) oder 3-jährige, einschlägige Berufserfahrung
Erfahrung im Bereich Engineering, Prozess- und Anlagentechnik und Projektmanagement von Vorteil
Erfahrung im Bereich Qualifizierung / Validierung / Qualitätsmanagement in der pharmazeutischen Industrie wünschenswert
